Bitcoin mining technology company UE Crypto has successfully raised $16 million in a strategic funding round led by CMT Digital. The funding will help the company accelerate its expansion into AI infrastructure.
As cryptocurrency mining companies increasingly seek to transform their businesses, UE Crypto will further explore opportunities in the AI computing market and capitalize on new growth opportunities driven by rapidly increasing demand for artificial intelligence computing.
The funding follows the official launch of UE Crypto AI, the company’s dedicated business division, in September. The division aims to extend the company’s existing expertise in energy management, computing hardware, financial derivatives, and software technology into artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC), further expanding its business footprint and tapping into the growth potential of emerging computing markets.
UE Crypto stated that it will use the funds to expand its AI-focused cloud platform, provide working capital for its growing hardware trading business, increase investment in computing derivatives and market-making operations, and recruit additional engineering and business development personnel.
The company is expanding on its established Bitcoin mining business, which includes mining pools, specialized hardware brokerage, firmware, energy services, and financial products that allow miners to hedge fluctuations in computing revenue.
According to UE Crypto, its hardware brokerage business has facilitated a total of $1 billion in Bitcoin mining hardware transactions, while its energy division manages more than 75 megawatts of power load across the ERCOT and Southwest Power Pool (SWPP) markets. In addition, as of September this year, the UE Crypto AI cloud platform had processed approximately 1.8 million workloads year to date, further demonstrating its business presence in computing infrastructure and AI cloud services.
UE Crypto is also expanding its brokerage business for graphics processing units (GPUs) and AI servers. By establishing partnerships with equipment manufacturers and suppliers, the company aims to procure hardware in an increasingly competitive market.
Another key focus is the development of financial derivatives linked to computing power. UE Crypto has introduced over-the-counter options, forward contracts, and other financial products linked to computing lease indices, extending a business model previously developed for Bitcoin mining computing power into the broader computing resources market.
“The computing market is converging: miners, power sites, and capital that once served digital mining are now powering artificial intelligence,” said Nick Hansen, CEO and co-founder of UE Crypto, in the announcement.
Bitcoin miners shift their focus to artificial intelligence
The investment comes as Bitcoin mining companies increasingly redirect their infrastructure and capital toward AI, seeking revenue opportunities beyond the volatile economics of cryptocurrency production.
In July this year, Bitcoin.com News reported that Hut 8 had signed a 15-year lease agreement worth $9.8 billion to add 352 megawatts of AI computing capacity at its Beacon Point campus in Texas. The agreement doubled the tenant’s committed capacity at the campus to 704 megawatts.
Meanwhile, Terawulf is also actively expanding into AI infrastructure. In May this year, the company acquired a data center site in Kentucky, with plans to achieve 1 gigawatt of high-performance computing capacity by 2030. Its AI revenue also exceeded its Bitcoin mining revenue in the first quarter of 2026.
Other major mining companies, including Core Scientific, IREN, and Cipher, are similarly adjusting or scaling back their Bitcoin mining operations to meet demand from AI computing customers.
This transition has not come without a cost. An analysis report published by uecrypto.com in October estimated that publicly listed mining companies had reduced their actual Bitcoin mining hashrate by approximately 75 exahashes per second in the first half of 2026, equivalent to around $1.5 billion in hardware investment.
Unlike operators that convert large-scale mining facilities into AI data centers, UE Crypto aims to build an integrated infrastructure platform serving both cryptocurrency mining and AI computing. It provides diversified solutions covering hardware, software, trading, and financial services, promoting the coordinated development of both industries.
Its latest investment demonstrates that the convergence of Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence is creating opportunities not only for companies that own data centers, but also for businesses supplying equipment, financial products, and services to the expanding computing power market.
How to join UE crypto cloud mining in just three steps
