In brief

  • Former Aptos advisor Buzz has left the crypto project after his one-year contract ended, calling the split “mutual,” and says he’s sold his APT tokens.
  • The memer is now pointing his guerrilla marketing campaign at Facebook's parent company Meta, arguing retail investors have been forgotten and that the company has strong fundamentals.
  • Buzz previously helped pump APT's token value with his memes, but Meta is roughly 2,619 times bigger than Aptos—so he's set himself a real challenge.

Pseudonymous social media memer turned crypto advisor BuzzlamicJihad has left his position at Aptos, claiming the partnership had run its course. The former Aptos advisor has turned his attention to the META stock as he ramps up his trademark meme campaign for the company.

BuzzlamicJihad, who is called Buzz by his friends and family, rose to prominence in early 2025, when his unofficial "community takeover” of crypto project Aptos helped pump the token's value. It was the result of months of fostering a community of die-hard investors and posting memes, popularizing the terms "Aptos lookin’ good here," and "sidelined?"

In October 2025, Buzz officially joined Aptos as an advisor, as the memer told Decrypt that he wanted to fix the project's image problem and position it as a premium stablecoin network. A year later, that contract came to an end and Buzz did not opt to extend.

"I didn’t see it going anywhere else, and some of the plans I had didn’t work out as intended," Buzz told Decrypt. "So, I didn’t bother extending it and they didn’t seem willing to either anyways, so it’s mutual."

Aptos did not respond to Decrypt's request for comment.

Since the start of the month, APT has dropped 10.7% to a $607 million market capitalization, per Decrypt data. Buzz told Decrypt he has sold his APT.

The memer is now turning his attention to Facebook's parent company, Meta. This is because his entire thesis around Aptos was based on its ties to Facebook. Buzz told Decrypt last year that he made his money via Facebook advertising and strongly believed in the team behind the social media app. That's why he cared so much about Aptos, a crypto project that was formed by developers from Libra—a now-defunct stablecoin project led by Facebook.

In 2024, Buzz started posting on social media about Aptos making huge statements about Aptos' potential, such as predicting it'll flip XRP in market cap.

When Aptos Labs founder Mo Shaikh stepped down in December 2024, Buzz bought more and started to claim he was starting a "community takeover" and that it hadn't been "priced in"—a phrase he repeated at least seven times through January. All while he spammed “Aptos lookin’ good here,” “sidelined?” and “motion not priced in yet" across everyone's timelines.

In February 2025, the shitposting paid off as notable influencers got behind him, drawing eyes to Aptos, and the APT token boosted 17% in 24 hours.

However, his approach this time is different, he says.

"I don’t think META is failing obviously and needs a hostile takeover, but retail is kind of forgotten, especially with the recent Class C share creation with no voting ability," Buzz told Decrypt. "It's also not entirely dependent on memetics here; I actually think they have strong fundamentals too."

Buzz's social media campaign has begun as he tests the waters for what works. Already, he's thrown out a "META looking good here," and claims to have moved all communications off of Telegram and onto the Meta-owned WhatsApp (though Decrypt spoke to Buzz via Telegram during the creation of this article).

Meta is down 1.2% on the day Buzz's campaign has begun, per Yahoo! Finance data, sitting at a sizable $1.59 trillion market cap. Meta is 2,619 times bigger than Aptos, when comparing market capitalizations, so making its price budge would be a real challenge.

A somewhat comparable success story is that of Roaring Kitty, a meme stock influencer who led the charge for those investing in GameStop's GME stock. Through a stream of posts on the subreddit r/WallStreetBets and livestreams, he gathered an army of die-hard investors to rally behind GameStop as major hedge funds looked to short the stock. The phenomenon resulted in GME hitting an all-time high, substantial losses for hedge funds, and a 2023 feature film, "Dumb Money," based on the influencer's antics.

Roaring Kitty did it for a stock that currently sits at a market cap of $11.85 billion. That makes Buzz's challenge 134 times larger.

The GameStop influencer momentarily returned to social media in 2024 after more than two years of inactivity. But since then, Roaring Kitty has faded into obscurity, despite unsubstantiated rumors that he would join the GameStop board.

Buzz, however, wants to help lead Meta into a new era.

"I do think [Meta's AI agent] Muse could also benefit hugely from stablecoin float economics from the original vision of GlobalCoin (later becoming Libra/Diem), so it’s not out of the question that they go back into crypto in a huge way," Buzz told Decrypt. "And if they chose me to lead this in some capacity, I would be honored to do so."
