XRP Ledger Foundation Adds Flare to Validator List

The XRP Ledger Foundation has added Flare Networks to its list of recommended validators, increasing its involvement in the consensus and governance of the XRP Ledger.

On Oct. 28, the XRP Ledger Foundation took to X to reveal that it had added Flare to its list of recommended validators. They highlighted Flare's dedication to the XRP Ledger ecosystem.

"We welcome @FlareNetworks to the recommended XRP Ledger validator list," the Foundation revealed.

The Foundation detailed Flare's alignment with the core values of the network. It revealed how the project actively engages in governance and participates in the XRP ecosystem as a whole.

Flare responded to the news, expressing its gratitude to the Foundation and those who openly reviewed its application.

Flare rolled out FXRP on its mainnet in September 2025. FXRP lets XRP holders benefit from decentralized finance using Flare's infrastructure (FAssets) for XRP.

What is it like to become an XRPL Validator?

Validators are important for the security and stability of the XRP Ledger.

The XRP Ledger doesn't use a proof-of-work mining system as Bitcoin does. Instead, it has its own consensus mechanism for confirming the validity and order of transactions.

Validators independently interact with each other and agree on which transactions should be part of the new version of the ledger. This prevents double-spending and helps participants maintain a consistent version of the transactions.

Not all validators are equally influential in reaching a consensus.

XRPL servers have a Unique Node List (UNL) of validators they trust. A server administrator can set up its own list, but many choose to follow the recommended list of validators published by the XRP Ledger Foundation and Ripple.

This is why being included in the Foundation's recommended list is quite significant. It means the validator is seen as a reliable and independent one.

The XRP Ledger's recommended validator list includes cryptocurrency firms, independent infrastructure providers, and universities.

Some of the notable names include Ripple, XRPL Labs, Bithomp, GateHub, Peersyst Technology, and XRPL Commons.

There are also some universities such as the University of Kansas, the Australian National University, and the University of Nicosia (among others).
